Tiger's Eye Dragon Information

Baby Form Juvenile Form

You can tell what kind of mood your Tiger's Eye Dragon is in by the gem on its forehead, called the Headgem. The dragon's Headgem grows hot when it's angry and cools down when it is calm. When the dragon feels affectionate, it glows and emits a warm heat. Tiger's Eye Dragons seem cold at first, but they take awhile to warm up to new Caretakers. Don't expect Tiger's Eye Dragons to eat out of your hand as soon as they hatch. Once you've built up a relationship of trust with them, they'll begin purring when you offer them food, and their Headgem will give off a comforting warm glow.

Tiger's Eye Dragons are drawn to their namesake Gemstones. If you're looking for a cheap toy that your dragon will play with for hours, tie a Tiger's Eye gem to a stick and dangle it over its head. It will spend hours batting at it with its claws. Epic Tiger's Eye Dragons are covered from head to tail in their precious gemstones. They are friendly and docile like their less-evolved forms, but when angry, they can become a terrible sight to behold. When enraged, the heat coming off of their illuminated stones is hot enough to boil a small lake.

Availability

The Tiger's Eye Dragon is obtainable:

  • By purchase at the market for 2,200 Gold.
  • By purchase as a Limited Time Value Pack.
  • By crafting using the Spell Shop. You must have 2 Large Onyx, 2 Large Topaz and 2 Nether Dust.
  • By breeding two dragons that collectively contribute Gemstone, Yellow, and Black to the type pool. If a parent has the appropriate minor types, missing requirements may also be added to the pool, even if neither parent has the originally required types. Minor types that have been split from other minor types can also contribute their component types to the type pool.
  • DISCLAIMER: When attempting to breed the Tiger's Eye Dragon, you may get other offspring instead. Check the Breeding Calculator to view all of the possible results of combining a particular pair of parents.

Parents Behavior

The Tiger's Eye Dragon has special behavior when it is used as a breeding parent. Unlike dragons with only basic types, it will obey the following rules:

  • When the Black type is alone in the pool, it will add pure dragons of its component types (Blue and Purple) to the list of possible outcomes, but it will not split into its component types. When Black is included in the pool along with one or more other types, the Black type can split into Blue and Purple. However, if it is split, then Black is no longer in the pool for the duration. Thus, the presence of Black in a pool will either add the Black type if it does not split or the Blue and Purple types if it does split. There is one exception to this rule, and that is when both parents possess the Black type. In this case, Black can contribute both itself and its split colors at the same time.
  • When the Gemstone type is alone in the pool, it will add pure dragons of its component types (Green and Blue) to the list of possible outcomes, but it will not split into its component types. When Gemstone is included in the pool along with one or more other types, the Gemstone type can split into Green and Blue. However, if it is split, then Gemstone is no longer in the pool for the duration. Thus, the presence of Gemstone in a pool will either add the Gemstone type if it does not split or the Green and Blue types if it does split. There is one exception to this rule, and that is when both parents possess the Gemstone type. In this case, Gemstone can contribute both itself and its split colors at the same time.
  • Although the Black type can split into Blue and Purple for breeding purposes, it still only counts as one type. This is important when considering the number of types for type-amount-dependent dragons such as the Diamond Dragon. Breeding a Night Dragon with a Tiger's Eye Dragon only counts as three types: Black, Gemstone, and Yellow.
  • Although the Gemstone type can split into Green and Blue for breeding purposes, it still only counts as one type. This is important when considering the number of types for type-amount-dependent dragons such as the Diamond Dragon. Breeding an Air Dragon with a Tiger's Eye Dragon only counts as three types: Yellow, Gemstone, and Black.

Notes

  • On July 17, 2013 the Tiger's Eye Dragon and all other gemstone dragons became breedable.

  • The Tiger's Eye Dragon's design is based upon the Familiar Dragon's, although there are differences between the two.
  • Tiger's Eye is a type of gemstone that has orange and black stripes, similar to the ones on Tigers.
