Kitsune Dragon Information

A Kitsune Dragon is a caretaker's best friend. These dragons are intelligent, friendly, and fiercely loyal. It's not uncommon to see a caretaker walking along an island with a Kitsune Dragon close in tow, wiggling its ears furiously to keep up. Companionships between caretakers and Kitsune Dragons have existed as long as dragon caretaking. Kitsune Dragons once lived in the human realm with their caretakers, leading to confused stares from outsiders. Legends surrounded the Kitsune Dragons, though the dragons were mistaken for flying foxes from the spiritual realm.

Don't be alarmed by the horns on a Kitsune Dragon's head; Kitsune Dragons are very peaceful, and would never use their horns to attack - only to defend. Kitsune Dragons also use their horns to help eat fruit, whether it's making cores in Firapples or smashing Upgrapes for delicious Upgrape Juice. You can tell how wise and powerful an Epic Kitsune Dragon is by the number of tails it has. Kitsune Dragons that are particularly crafty grow multiple tails in a tight bushel around their original tail. If your Epic Kitsune Dragon has nine tails (the most a Kitsune Dragon can have), you can be sure it is among the wisest dragons alive.

Parents Behavior

The Kitsune Dragon has special behavior when it is used as a breeding parent. Unlike dragons with only basic types, it will obey the following rules:

  • Although the Pink type is made up of Red and White, the presence of these types may not necessarily allow you to breed the Kitsune Dragon. Check the Availability section above to find out the unique conditions under which this dragon might be bred.
  • When the Pink type is alone in the pool, it will add pure dragons of its component types (Red and White) to the list of possible outcomes, but it will not split into its component types. When Pink is included in the pool along with one or more other types, the Pink type can split into Red and White. However, if it is split, then Pink is no longer in the pool for the duration. Thus, the presence of Pink in a pool will either add the Pink type if it does not split or the Red and White types if it does split. There is one exception to this rule, and that is when both parents possess the Pink type. In this case, Pink can contribute both itself and its split colors at the same time.
  • Although the Pink type can split into Red and White for breeding purposes, it still only counts as one type. This is important when considering the number of types for type-amount-dependent dragons such as the Diamond Dragon. Breeding a Kitsune Dragon with a Fruitful Dragon only counts as three types: Pink, Green, and Yellow.

Notes

  • The Kitsune Dragon is a breedable pure dragon with type requirements that conflict with other pures of its type. Unlike the Virtue Dragon, it requires pink and red instead of red and white.
  • The Kitsune Dragon's design is based upon the Mist Dragon's, although there are differences between the two.
  • Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox.
  • In some Japanese legends, the nine-tailed kitsune were very wise and had the ability to fly. This detail is referenced in the Epic Kitsune Dragon's description.
